Hi, I'm trying to find a solid medical malpractice attorney in the Jacksonville area. I'm familiar with Farah and Farah, etc. but was wondering if there was anyone else out there. I can't give any specifics about my possible case, just wanting to get feedback. Thank you.

I don't have a referral for you, but if you stop by your local library, you can find a free legal guide. It's like a big, glossy phone book, but it's organized by legal specialty.

I found one at the Pablo Creek branch, but they should be at most branches. Whoever prints them prints a medical guide too.

It's not going to tell who is the best attorney, but it will tell you who specializes in what you're looking for. Good luck .

Do you think doctors don't make mistakes? I prosecuted them in Florida for the Board of Medicine for 7 years, and I could tell you some stories that might make you reconsider your bias. Cutting a healthy leg off the wrong patient good enough for you? It happens a lot more often than you think.

Anyway, for the original poster: I don't know about Jax, but I DO know that the best people to ask would be the Legal MQA people at the Department of Health. It has been years so I cannot tell you who to ask, but talk to any of the medical prosecutors there. Some may be relectuant to tell you, but all of them will have an opinion about the "good" and "bad" med mal attorneys. They deal with them on a daily basis, and nobody would know better.

I seem to recall I guy named Orfinger that operated out of Jax who was pretty good, but I think he might have been defense.
