its a pretty cool station so far. Lots of music and way less talking/commercials than other stations. What I want to know is how these stations change formats overnight. There is like no warning or news. You go to bed or drive to work one night/morning and that afternoon its completely different. No info out there at all why the format changed.

A few years ago when I was working in NY,I went to work listening to a local alternative station one morning. That afternoon, I got in my car and the station had changed formats--from rock alternative to a completely spanish language and music station. I was like WTF....

NOOOOOOO!!!!

The point was the only station i listened to in jax. it did start getting a little repetitive over that past couple of years (like they were playing one of those "time life" cd's on repeat), but it was still good.

sometimes i can pick it up at night in valdosta, but it gets clear about 30-40 miles west of here.

that stinks though.

Yea, we needed another station to compete with planet radio. So many commercials and the same songs constantly playing.

The only thing is that 102.9 will do the limited commercial thing for a while to get listeners, then they will advertise just like everyone else. But for now its great!

Default Good for the makeover!

102.9 played the same stuff over and over. What they played on there was not real 80s music. I have not found anything likeable about 90s music. I am glad they changeed 100.7 to classic country. I LOVE that station now.

agree with the first sentence, but it didn't bother me too much since i'm not in the area all the time to listen to it.

second sentence . . . .

not sure what your definition is, but anything recorded in the '80's is '80's music. whether its your style or not.

I agree that 100.7 is a good station now. I've never been exposed to much country music. What little I have been exposed to never really appealed to me. It sounded worse than the cheesiest pop.

However, I find myself enjoying the music they play on that station. It's all new to me. The quality of the music is high and the performers have good voices and real talent.

I've been a fan of 102.9 since I moved here back in 1983, while stationed at NAS JAX. Too bad that they had to change the format without leaving a great alternate station format like the old one! You can't even rely on satellite radio if they go bankrupt!!

I agree with you. I moved to Jacksonville in 1999 from NYC & I used to listen to Cool 96.9 then it changed to 96.9 the eagle. It was ok at first however they have a limited playlist. then 100.7 became Kool 100.7 & that went away. I don't know what the radio company are think of Do they think people from 30-50 don't listen to music? today music is crap. Ther are too many alternative & rap station now. I am not a country western fan. I miss listening to the Temptation The Beatles the Stones . Why can't a radio be daring enough to bring back a oldies station ? Are the radio Corp Dumb ?
