I, myself, have been a complainer of the lack of local restaurants here in Jax. But, I just found this great website: Jacksonville Restaurants | Urbanspoon

Thought I would share it with everyone. After finding the website, we ate at Sala Thai on Beach last night and really enjoyed it. I'll be using this site as a reference for now on!

That's never been one of my go-to sites. I prefer:

If it wasn't for UrbanSpoon, I would've never found out about independent restaurants on my side of town. I use that site to scope what spots I want to try next.

Sala Thai is awesome, been one of my faves for years . I still get a kick out of the booths .

Jax has tons of independent restaurants. Just pull up some old threads, Littlewheels. Try searching keywords like Sushi, Italian, etc. Or just start a fresh thread here on CD.

It can depend on what part of the city you frequent too. Some neighborhoods have more options for better independents.

There a good many independents in the JCP area of St. John's? I know there a good number of them in Mandarin.
