sort of. The company may not have an official HR department because it's too small, or cheap, or doesn't fell it needs one yet. (think Mom and Pop shops, startups, etc)

I know. not only that but now it seems you cant go to the actual establishment anymore. You have to apply online. Why is that? Did all these entitled kids complain about not being able to play warcraft as much if they actually WENT to a place to apply? If i were an employer id hire someone that actually showed up to inquire about a job, not some lazy butt that surfed the web while sitting on his couch.

Things have changed and people either have their own PC or they have access to a PC. Makes it easier to create a resume compared to years ago when there was not a PC in many homes. Same goes with online apps...the internet has become the norm and with that new normal comes online apps.

Welcome to 2012. Join in or fall behind while whining.

I seen signs of this happening this past week. I was unable to set up a interview by phone but when I sent him a email he replied right away.

i would think that an employer seeing an application submitted online would say "this guy's lazy". Whereas seeing an application submitted in person would make the employer say "wow this guy actually made an effort to come down here! I want to talk to this guy"

McDonald's now takes resumes sounds like a one liner on Leno or Letterman

I work at OfficeMax and its almost required to have a resume with you. Interviews are fairly extensive and I am shocked at the high standards my manager has for a low-paying retail job.

Since when did these sweat factories start thinking of themselves as so highly that they are making the process of getting a job so tough. They wonder why no one wants to work and why we're always short on staff and have such high employee turnover.

What's the deal with your attitude? What makes McDonalds crappy? I personally love their french fries (which reminds me, I haven't had them for months). Why would you even want to work at a place that you think is crappy?
