I just had a phone screen for a big tech company last week, and my on-site interview isn't scheduled until December. Would it be strange to give the recruiter a revised resume that is focused more for the job description?

Also, I recently graduated and didn't include in my recent research assistant position since I wasn't sure about getting a good reference from it. But with it missing it looks like I was lazy and didn't do any internships during graduate school. So maybe I should be including it anyway. But I'm thinking it's going to raise eyebrows to add employment history, even if the next interview isn't going to be for a few weeks.

I guess you could send it with a note that you wanted to emphasize relevant work experience after speaking with them during the phone interview.

Definitely include the research assistant work.

I agree.

Nothing wrong with giving them an updated resume. Sometimes you learn more about the position and want to highlight other experience and skills you have.

Just make sure you don't update the existing pieces of your résumé too much.

Yes, it would be strange. I think you're missing the point of the resume. The purpose of a resume isn't to get the job, it's to get the interview. Yours did. The resume did it's job. They liked whatever they saw on the resume. I wouldn't change it.

Now is the time for you to prep for the interview.
