Have you heard of employers hiring only through phone interviews? I ask because I was interviewed by phone, for a location that is not open yet, and the employer is out of state. I was assuming that if I progressed in the hiring process, that I would have a face to face interview when they arrived just prior to opening the new location in my city. But, I received an email touching base with me, and in short, letting me know that they were getting things ready, so they would be able to make offers. Which leads me to believe that they aren't going to do face-to-face interviews, which kinda baffles me.. btw, this is for a management position for a global retailer, they do have an opening date, and maybe they are running short on time? I'm just weary on the hiring only by phone. Do companies do this?? I was thinking maybe international hires, sure, but they are coming here to open the store, so wouldn't it be better if they actually saw who they were hiring? lol... Will I get lucky and not have another interview?!

I got hired with only a phone interview. I never personally met my boss or any of my coworkers. It was for a remote position for a fortune 500 company. I did have credentials and they did an extensive background check on me, but, yeah, I got hired with only a phone interview. Crazy part is I LOVED my bosses and still keep in touch with them--via email and phone.
Thanks for the responses. I guess I am just in disbelief that I may get hired so easily, when I just had FOUR interviews with another company, and NEVER heard back from them! Anyway, I have my fingers crossed for this one!
I just got hired via phone interview. The job is a customer service job in a call center atmosphere so I can see why they don't need to see me. If its a job where your physically appearance matters, then it would be odd ;
