Actually my husband found my latest job on the internet!

He did all the footwork. All I had to do was apply and interview. Talk about low stress!

Local newspaper classified (on-line) - in 2000.

Still at this company, but have changed jobs since then.

Word of mouth by a friend. I was having no luck finding another secretarial position, and she suggested I apply to our local school district as an office "substitute" to get my foot in the door. When I returned my application, they saw I had a lot of food service in my past as well as office experience, and had me interview with the cafeteria supervisor for a position they had open. I was hired immediately as a server (pending obtaining my clearances and okay by the school board, which was just a formality). I thought it would be a great part time job until something full time came along, and I'd have time to continue looking. A year later, an assistant cook position came available (at 30 to 35 hours a week), and I got it. I've been in that position for a year, and employed by the cafeteria for two years. It is just the right amount of hours per week for me at this time in my life, and it is close to home.

Almost 13 years ago I walked into an Air Force recruiter's office for a job. Still have that job. I know things won't be that easy when I get out. This is why I have already started networking and using the internet just in case. I am affiliated with all of those internet job listing websites listed in the poll along with about 10 more.

You can find everything you need on the internet, take advantage of it.

One of my good friends jokes that he met his wife, found all his cars, purchased a home, finished his degree, opened several bank accounts, located lost/missing pet and started his business from the internet.

One of my co-workers from a previous job is my manager at my current job. In other words, it was networking all the way for me. As soon as he heard I was available he suggested I join him at his new company.

I posted my resume on a job website that is geared towards my profession. About fifteen minutes later, I received an e-mail from a company about three hours north of my hometown; the email came directly from the head of my department. This is the first and only job I've had since finishing college in 2007.

at the army recruiter's office. nice people. i got free uniforms, paid school, medical dental, food, no utility bills to worry of. tax free shopping. they got a good benefits package unlike any the world has seen. It just sucks when you go on Extended Business trips on their Corporate Jets. to countries no one's heard of until its seen on CNN.
