I interviewed for a position back in June and never prepared for the interviewed and stumbled and bumbled through the entire interview process. Since then I been preparing myself for the next interview and never stopped thinking about how horrible I felt that day because it was a horrible experience. So during the 1st week of November I saw the job posted again and decided to apply to it anyway because I have nothing to lose. So today I get called and scheduled for a interview next Tuesday which shocked me because I was rejected not that long ago. I always thought that it had to be more than 6 months before a company would invite you back for another interview.

But this was a surprise call today and it just feels like the employment gods is behind this since I have been aced my last 4 interviews in the past 6 weeks and this is their way of saying that I;m ready for the interview I messed up on in June.

Now this is the best way to go into a 4 day weekend and you better believe that I will be ready this time.

That happens all the time usually for one of three reasons:

1) A different HR analyst is handling it and didn't bother to check and see if you were rejected before.

2) They are just giving you another opportunity in case you are less nervous and better able to present your self.

3) The person hired before didn't work out, and others interviewed before that did well are no longer available.

First of all a company is never supposed to call you the day before a holiday. How dare they call you on the busiest travel day of the year? Don't they think you have a life?
Consider that fodder for your next thread. Good luck with the interview.

This happens quite often. You were probably placed in the "maybe next time" pile, and the original candidate didn't work out. Happened to me last year. Interviewed at a few different places. The one I really wanted to work at said they would have liked to hire me, but they found someone with more experience. No biggie, I took an offer for a different job after getting the word. Two weeks later, they sent me an email asking me if I was still available for the job. Obviously, I had already started working at the other place, so I gave them the news.

1 year later, I was getting bored at my job, and asked them if they were looking to hire someone. Got word that they were interested, came in and talked with them again, and got the job. Worked out rather well. It's a good idea to save a list of contacts for jobs you have interviewed for. Never hurts to inquire regarding potential employment opportunities months down the road. It also shows you think highly enough of their company to play the waiting game.
