Overall, I agree with the others here, job fairs are a waste of time, but if you are trying to network get a job and meet people, take business cards (exchange them with others) and just a few printed-out resumes.

Most job fairs are for entry level people, and if you are trying to get your foot in the door, it is a long shot, but maybe worth trying to get some on-sport interviews or just talking to the people who represent the companies at the job fair.

I went today and it wasn't so bad. One company did tell me to apply online. But some employers gave me their cards and asked me to email them.

Good to hear!

Again, the worst that can happen is nothing, and even then you got some contact info, might have seen a few new companies you haven't heard of before, and maybe got to eat some free snacks.

Good luck!

Yeah, some companies didn't show up. Others that weren't advertised did. Anyway, I learned by going that the state is hiring over 150 positions so I came back home and looked at some of the listings.

if nothing else at least you get to practice your "people" skills when attending a job fair. And I am glad not every employer gave you the "apply online". I honestly don't think job fairs are a waste of time, however I don't overhype to the point of "job fair=guaranteed job".

The LA Clippers are holding a career fair next month. Think I should go? Would it be worth it?

It says "Don’t miss the opportunity to meet with representatives from numerous Southern California sports teams and entertainment companies."

It costs $18 to get into but that includes a ticket to their game that night, though I wouldn't really want to go to the game.
