So after a solid 2.5-3 month job search I finally landed an official offer this Friday, which I took. I am also handing in my resignation and 2 week notice to my current employer on Tuesday.
I want to offer hope to those currently unemployed, under employed or just plain miserable in their current jobs. Keep plugging along. Remember to stay positive. That's hard when you get constantly rejected or as in my case when your employer shows no regard or appreciation for you whatsoever. It is hard to go into an interview with a positive and collaborative attitude as opposed to a "the employer is out to screw me" type of attitude, especially if you have been rejected by hundreds of other employers who either didn't bother to read your resume or disqualified you because of some random criteria.
In any case, I had the help of a great recruiter who really helped me along the way and who gave me great tips. If you are interested in some of the things the recruiter suggested let me know. I will be glad to share.
Good luck to everyone.
I am in the same boat - was miserable at my current job (where I have been around 6 months), and what made it worse was that I was miserable at the job prior to that which I'd only been in a few months.
I am also handing in my notice tomorrow!!! I was positive in interviews - did not let my mood affect me at all, and I came across confident and not nervous at all.
I would also say stay positive, and put all of your energy into finding that new job.
Congrats! I would love to hear any tips. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
