I suspect it is Abbott labs as Manpower is practically their HR department. I'm not sure what is more disturbing, that they had to look at "qualifications" for a Janitor position or they have to rely on a temp agency to hire one. I guess they figure a MS decreed chemist will really know which cleaning detergents to use to shine the toilets.

odd, ive talked to abbott employees on the lab equipment side, they seem happy and are well paid too.

not sure if it is because their healthcare/medical division is ran differently but i didnt think abbott was a bad employer. i've been courted by their competitors before so i looked into some of them and they didnt seem too bad as trainers, field service and consultants, i only looked into those three positions though. the fact that i turned them down wasnt that i found something wrong with company, they just came to me at the wrong time in my life, i was starting a family and didnt want to travel.

They seem like one big permatemp h#ll hole. I get frequent emails about an opportunity with "our client in Lake County Illinois"
I actually interviewed their once for such a job while at Pepsi. They seemed about the same (little chance of hire) so I didn't bother with them. Plus there are layoffs in the local paper from them all the time and mysteriously right after a layoff I get more emails and calls about temp jobs.

Or, it could just be the greed of ManPower pocketing most of the actual pay. Ya think? Perhaps the company actually pays a perm/direct hire in that position more like $15-$17 per hour.

$10.50 is slightly above min wage in fact it is $10 in Chicago. I don't think anyone would deal with a temp agency for less than that vs get their own job in retail or fast food. The agency probably charges $15-20 per hour.
