I would like to hear stories of people first starting out their jobs. How often did you make mistakes at the beginning and were you afraid you would lose your job? What did you do about it and were you successful? How often do you make mistakes now?
Everybody makes mistakes. Anyone telling you otherwise are either lying, or they're making minimal contribution. The key here is that you learn from them. I rather have folks make 'reasonable' mistakes than be so afraid to make a mistake, they never actually add value.
And by 'reasonable', I'm talking more about taking calculated risks. Being consistently careless is inexcusable.
