Hi, all. My friend put me in front of a director at a company that I'm trying to get hired on with. The next day I emailed the director and he said that my resume was given to the manager of the dept that I applied to and I would be getting a call very soon, and to let him know if I don't. Eight days later no call, so emailed the director yesterday to let him know. I received no response back from him, and still no call. Should I be worried?
Sounds to me like the manager doesn't have a job to offer you, for whatever reason, and the director spoke out of turn. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this opportunity. Keep looking.

Couldn't someone call me/email me and tell me that?
also 8 days is nothing - those of us in the corporate world actually do have real jobs (not just hiring people). I'm not saying to wait it out; but you could end up still hearing something.

I agree. 8 days seems like a lifetime to a job seeker, but it is nothing to a hiring manager who is probably swamped with other responsibilities. The truth is you never know what is taking place on the hiring manager's side. It could be that there was no job or they haven't had a chance to get around to the recruitment process or any number of things.
