I walked into a store and the employee took my resume and told me to come back the next day and talk to the manager, so I went back the next day and had what she called an “informal interview” they seemed somewhat impressed with the things I had to say and at the end asked me if I would be able to provide references Incase their other manager liked my resume and called me back for an official interview. Most of my friends say they got a call back the day of or day after but it is day 2 and I still have heard nothing. All the information I can find online is from people that went to regular interviews I don’t know what my chances are right now is it normal to wait this long .

In a retail environment hiring is a distraction. They are likely to hire whoever is around when they need a person.

You haven’t been hired because you had an interview with an assistant or department manager. They screened you (good sign) and seem to have passed your application to the store manager. You need to follow up to keep your application at the top of the pile. Give them a call. It is a weekend, so they might be really busy and you need to respect that. If the manager isn’t available to speak, try Monday morning. That is usually a good paperwork time for store managers.

Good luck.
