The biggest growth industry today is helping people find a job. Everywhere you look there is an article about job loss and how to find a job. I noticed the cover of this week's Fortune Magazine promotes an article about how to find a good job. Go over to the bookstore or library and there are tons of books on the topic. Go to the Internet and there are zillions of websites with job hunting advice.

I work at a search firm and spend most of my time looking for administrative, accounting and IT Professionals. I look at lots of resumes and interview many people. The quality of Resumes are poor. It is really sad out there.

There are still lots of jobs to be had but the quality of applicants still are not so good. I can not believe the resumes I get in the mail and over the Internet. So many good people who do not know how to promote themselves.

I would think that the biggest growth industry would be people who go into business and teach people to interview and write a Resume. Though most people are to proud to spend $100 on something that would make them thousands and possibly change their lives. I am curious why.

If you have not involved someone else to edit, review or at least give a second opinion on your resume, why?

Interestingly, I got an reach out to you email from one of my staffing agencies a couple of weeks ago...telling me about their new resume services...so I guess the recruiting agencies are trying creative ways to get by through this 2000's depression. very funny

on a serious note, On one hand H.R. people and observers complain that people don't type up their OWN resumes or coverletters and their all lies and then on the other hand they complain that people's resumes are not well written. Your'e damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Because people should do their own resumes so they can be more prepared to discuss their qualifications at a intervew. I can't believe someone would pay to have a resume done when that money can go in their fridge.

I agree slightly, since I use the templates that I find on the internet. I used to write my own resumes, and then I decided to use the resumes i found on the internet. I like theirs better then mine! But I use format, sentence phrasing, sentence structure, and sometimes content!

And no, I don't pay, but you are supposed to.
