As someone who has very little post college work experience, should i target jobs in less popular/smaller cities and towns vs. looking in a large metro area? Is there truly less competition in a smaller area and would I be more likely to get considered with my lack of experience in a small town/city vs. a big one? I always want to apply to these job postings i see in large cities but I am afraid that I would just be one of a thousand resumes and mine would never get seen because so many qualified people would want to live there.
Assuming the per capita job availability is the same, living in a bigger city has pluses and minuses. More expensive but more things to do for a single person. If I was single for example, I wouldn't want to live in Huntsville (boring, very family oriented). If I was married with kids, I would be careful about living in Los Angeles (traffic, housing prices).
Right now, beggars can't be choosy. Look everywhere and get a job wherever you can get one. If you are lucky, you will get one that provides beneficial experience and in a location that is fun for younger single people.
