As we are getting the closer to the 50th anniversary since the start of the Yom Kippur War, the Israeli TV channel Kan11 has released from its archives many clips from Israel public TV channel for viewing on their website. As soon as we heard there was war we volunteered to go and help .(We were in London).
I remember my brother coming into the room saying "Jerusalem has been unified".
When we arrived, the war was already over.
I was in the first group of volunteers to enter the old city, and went to work on Mount Scopus in the old Hadassah hospital.
TBH Chava, I am reluctant to talk about this as I have been told that it is considered too political. I was told this here, when I first came here and wanted to celebrate the reunification of Jerusalem. (Also on other fora)

It sounds like you are confusing between the Yom Kippur War and the Six Day War. During the Yom Kippur War, Jerusalem was already a unified city.
No, I am not confusing the 2 wars.(I was in the 73 war ).
We knew the war was over before we left.
ETA I was living in Jerusalem in 73
Jerusalem became unified in 1967 during the Six Day War. So I don't understand what this comment has to do with the Yom Kippur War in 1973 (which only had fighting fronts in North and the South of the country nowhere near Jerusalem).

Not sure why, but I thought you were talking about the 67 war and I was in England at the time. Ie a person outside Israel
Anyway, I was in Jerusalem when the 73 war broke out and went down to Balluza to join a unit.

Does anyone remember hearing about this while they were still fasting and/or at synagogue back then outside of Israel?
