Hi all. Was curious as to whether there was any "Honky-Tonks", Dancehalls", etc. and other venues around the KC area and further out that feature LIVE Country Music on a weekly basis? I appreciate any comments and questions on the subject, thanks.

I am no fan of country music, but there are a few huge places that are hard to avoid so I know about them.

Whiskey Tango is a huge country night club in Grain Valley (far eastern suburb).

The P&L District has Big Sky which I hate because of the giant ugly cowboy sign they have overpowering the KC Live block which I think is tacky. Otherwise, I have nothing against them. But it’s a huge country night club (probably urban oriented while the one in Grain Valley probably caters more to the country folk).

I have not been to either, but I have been to the Beaumont Club in Westport. I have seen concerts there (not country). But can’t tell you much more than that other than I think it's generally a country themed nightclub.

I don't do that scene either, but there are a few places on Swift Ave. in North Kansas City. Denim and Diamonds is one of them. It sounds like it might be a chain or something. I know I've heard of one in Memphis and other places.

Yeah..I think Denim and Diamonds is a chain like Electric Cowboy etc. I was looking more for a traditional venue that would attract more country folk, rather than urban, like somebody above mentioned. I lived in the Springfield area for quite a while and had been up to KC a few times and saw lots of clubs but no country ones or honky-tonks. I know they are usually in the country or in out lying areas, so i thought I'd ask if anyone knew...thaks for the replies thus far. Please feel free to continue.

Grain Valley is out there a ways. So maybe that's what you are looking for.

You're not going to find club/music type atmospheres, but more like a tavern with a jukebox.
