I'm trying to accumulate a list from local residents of different cities of their top 5 favorite high rises. I'd love for you to list them. Please include at least the address or name and a photo if available (unless someone has already posted by the time you put your vote in)

Thanks

My favorite architecture in KC lies outside the realm of highrises, but of those, I like the Power & Light building best.

Trying to upload pics. We'll see if I can do it. Haven't lived in KC in a while, but here's a top 5 list (not in order of preference), just what comes to mind. I think KC has great architecture

1. The old BMA building (31st & Southwest Tfwy) - I think they are luxury condos now? - Sleek modern and understated

2. Power & Light building - an Art Nouveau classic

3. 909 Walnut

Love those art decos:

909 I had forgotten about this classic building until recently. I was really glad to see it's a desirable living area now and has escaped deterioration and the wrecking ball.

P&L Fond memories of the lights at night. I also learned only recently that one side has no windows, as it was to be part of a dual tower and the windowless side was to face the west tower. I guess I seldom saw the west side and thus it was news to me.

BTW, does anyone remember a chili-parlor/tamales restaurant on the ground floor, immediately to the right of the Walnut entrance? The lobby was really a dive, might have been 909 or the next block north. Circa 1980. I haven't been able to find something similar on Google Streetview and can't recall the name. Great tamales/chili especially on a cold wintry KC workday.

My favorite high rises:
1. KCP&L Building
2. 909 Walnut
3. Though it may barely qualify as a high rise the NY Life Building

4. City Hall

5. I'm not much a fan of the architecture, but since it is the tallest and focal point of the skyline, One Kansas City Place
