I'm curious about the Discovery Center around 48th and Troost, just north of UMKC as a possible place to take my 7 year old stepdaughter, but I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what is there; its website seems a little vague. Can anybody help me out?

It's all about being green and conservative. It's actually funded by the Missouri dept of Conservation I think. By the way, the MO dep of Conservation is one of the largest of its kind in any state. I think it's definitely worth a visit. Lots of info on vegetation and wildlife preservation with some nice displays and exhibits. Much nicer in summer when the gardens and trails are nice to walk through and can do Kauffman Gardens at same time.

Very cool place, but better in spring/summer.

Thanks, yeah, I saw there were some outdoors trails so I figured it would probably be better in a few months.
