I am planning my wedding for May of 2016 in Kansas City and am looking for a venue for both the ceremony and reception. I would like to stay close to the Plaza/Power & Light District but am willing to go out of that area for a good deal. I have budgeted $5000-$7500 for the reception venue, food, and open bar. I am open to any ideas or reviews anyone has. Thank you in advance for your help!

Are in or near Kansas City?

There are bridal expos held seasonally/quarterly, typically at the Overland Park Convention Center, where a huge number of vendors are on display, and offer lots of deals and discounts and freebies for expo attendees. We were able to get a bunch of additional features thrown in gratis at our venue, due to talking with vendors at the expo. Might be worth looking into when the next expo is scheduled, if you are located reasonably nearby.

The Plaza and the P&L are in very different parts of the city. Are you trying to have your wedding downtown in the Power & Light or at the Plaza? I would expect that a Plaza venue would bust your budget.
