We live in California but our daughter is getting married in Lee's Summit next month. A lot of family members are traveling to the area for the event. Where would be a good place for all of us to stay? Thanks!

I've never stayed there, but the Hampton Inn in Lee's Summit is in a very convenient location. It is on Douglas Street, just off I-470. I've always had good luck with Hampton Inn hotels, they are pretty standard with breakfast included. Plus they have the money back guarentee if you are at all disatified.

Congratulations on the wedding of your daughter.

LS only has a handful of hotels and they are really just motels. LS is a pretty isolated bedroom suburb off the major interstates so they have few hotels. The ones they have are nice motels though. If you really want to stay in LS, then I would look at 470 and Douglas or 470 and Woods Chapel where you will find newer properties. There are also a few hotels along US-50 and along 291. All of them should be fine hotels and in safe areas.

But if you want something a little nicer and more full service, I would look into maybe the Hilton in Independence near the Independence Center Mall (470 and 70). There is also a lot of other hotels in that area to choose from. Blue Springs has a nice Marriott hotel you might look into, that would be about 10-15 minutes away though.

I would also look into Overland Park. That area is only about 15-20 minutes away from Lee's Summit, but they have a ton of hotels, especially full service hotels like Marriott, Sheraton, Doubletree, Aloft and Embassy Suites. That area will give you the most to choose from while still being within about 20 minutes of Lee's Summit.

My "in-laws" stay at the Hampton Inn off Douglas at 470 when they come to visit; no complaints there, but it's just your basic pedestrian chain (which is exactly what they prefer)...nothing that's a destination or has tons of frills and amenities, by any means. But clean lodging with continental breakfast, etc. There's a lot of higher-end stuff down 435 into JoCo, but I'd rather have visitors be mere blocks from us than miles.
