So... tax cuts didn't work out so well? But hey, at least the gays can't marry in Kansas. Oh, wait... that didn't work out so well for Brownback either.

New, disastrous Kansas job loss exposes pure folly of Gov. Sam Brownback

I've pointed out the problem. Most of the money is either in Johnson County or with a couple of rich Wichita brothers and the major airport is in Missouri.

A good deal of your tax savings is flying away.

Well, there are at least 55,000 illegal immigrants working in the state so do the math. They are not just going agricultural work either but replacing citizens in construction/building trades, factories, etc. They also suppress wages and benefits here. Not to mention bleed the educational system due to "English as a Second Language", cost the state a bundle in welfare benefits. Yes, I am "Stumping for the Trump".

Unless someone is living among them, don't bother disputing the fact of what they do to a city and state that chooses to ignore the immigration laws over a long period of time.

Maybe Kansas should consider a different kind of business revenue

Must be why crack and meth businesses are growing.

Kansas does want to be progressive and really isn't interested in growth. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. You either move forward in time or you are lost.

Kansas really doesn't have the cash to provide to businesses looking to relocate and there just aren't that many businesses starting up anymore.

Kansas is not progressive and growth is limited to only certain areas. Your statement regarding business incentives and corporate welfare is mostly confined to Johnson County with the rest of the state not benefiting at all minus a few projects here and there. Job growth is occurring in many areas, just not in places like Kansas. Get an actual governor that is not Brownback, not in the pocket of the Koch billionaires, and watch things improve. Kansas now doesn't have the cash because they gave everything away, few businesses pay taxes due to the formation of LLCs and pass-through businesses. Kansas DOES NOT have the revenue streams to MAKE UP for the reduction of income tax revenue like Texas or Florida that DO NOT have income taxes. Texas has extensive revenues generated from oil and gas royalties and Florida has extensive revenues generated from tourism. NEITHER of these are features in Kansas to any extent. I don't think it gets much clearer than that.

Unemployment Rates for States

Weird, the unemployment rate is still pretty low relative to other states.

But hey, if someone wrote it in an opinion piece on the internet with obvious political bias....it couldn't possibly be wrong? lol.

While I agree Brownbacks plan was deeply flawed and that he sucks as a governor....the "analysis" this guy performed was pathetic garbage but that's probably all the tools he has to work with.

When there are less and less jobs, does it really matter what the unemployment rate is? Companies are leaving the state and or shedding jobs or at best not adding nearly as many as other states. While the state is also a very slow growth state as far as population (only one county really add a decent amount of people), jobs are not increasing at the same rate.

Basically the economy of Kansas is shrinking. Even the propped up mother county of the state is not doing all that well even with all the job poaching Kansas does to Missouri.

You can only spin the facts so much. There is a reason why the Kansas forum is nothing but threads like this

Mainly because they leave for other states. "The state experienced a net loss of 10,197 people because of outward migration from 2010 through July 1, 2013." Out-migration does not impact the unemployment rate but does result in creative destruction of the labor force. The issue is apparent in other states as well.
The out-migration numbers from 2014 onward should be much more telling, however. The static to decline in the total labor force in the state also aligns fairly well with that as well.

Lol the reason the KS side of the forum is full of threads like this is because if you pulled this crap in the other forums you'd get your threads deleted and infractions levied.

Employment is a complicated issue, it encompasses not only local laws and policies but also macro-economic factors, industrialization, technology advances and a host of other variables.

Since I work with complex analytical issues for a living (for decades), it's frankly annoying to have to keep dealing with armchair "analytics" from people that can't even begin to scratch the surface of a proper, fair analysis.

For you to throw in "spin the facts" is just rich.

I'm also one of the few people here without a strong political stake nor any particular axe to grind over border wars, gay rights etc. and as such I'm often just seeing badly biased garbage spewing forth here.

Brownback sucks, I 100% agree with that....but many of you have deeper motivations to just drag down the state at all costs due to personal agendas. It's that garbage that I will continue to refute and impartial visitors to the forum can decide for themselves whom is presenting a fairer view of reality.
