How about 2 boys in high school. I just got a great job offer on Kauai but my Fiance' will still have two boys in high school. The older one is very athletic (football and lacrosse) and the younger one is very musical. Both are good kids but are very nice and don't really have not had a rough time of it in school yet. Don't think I can afford two more private tuition's. Is anyone willing to answer their questions directly?

Thanks

Forget it! Here on Kauai the schools are third world and your boys will suffer greatly. Not only educationally but they will not be accepted, period!

I live here and know, so I hope you are ready to hear the truth.

Used to live on Kauai. Due to family situation, had to move back to the mainland in 2001. Planning to move back as soon as I am able. Due to disability and being elderly I was on section 8. How hard is it to find rentals on section 8 these days? Also, what other programs for disabled/elderly are there now?

Very hard to find a place on section 8, no one wants to rent to them. The ads in the paper state it up front.

Not trying to be an ass but don't move back here to collect state benefits that are aimed at Hawaii's current poor and disabled. The state has enough problems trying to take care of the citizens who live here now no less transplants that move here to be on the dole...

Section 8 is CLOSED to new recipients. You will be put on a waiting list that may be well over a year in length.

First off I'm going to say that I don't have any kids, so maybe my opinion on this doesnt matter, but this is the 2nd thread I've read about how Hawaiian schools are so bad and suggesting that's the cause of such high meth addiction, crime, and teen pregnancy.

Imo, it isn't the school's job to protect a child from these things. It's thier parent's job.

Schools in Hawaii may be bad, but I don't think teen pregnancy and drugs are a reflection of that.

Great point. Judging by the number of preteen kids walking around my neighborhood smoking pot in the open and swearing like sailors, I'd say it all starts with the parents. I'm not blaming it all on the parents, I just think it starts at home. A lot of the kids around here(my neighborhood anyway) were raised in single parent households or by their aunty/grandma... Don't know if that is a factor or not.
