No not UK or UofL lol, in the next 50 years where, if any, do you think will get a major sports team and what sport (MLB, NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL)?

IMO Baseball and football will never happen due to the prox to Cincinnati and Nashville, but here in NKY a lot of people are fans of hockey and soccer so it got me thinking a tad. I know Louisville had a bid for NBA recently but didn't work out. Thoughts?

I don't think L'ville will ever get an NBA team because of the Cards. They might have a shot at a soccer team in the future. I can't see any other city in KY getting any pro team of any kind.

Same here and I feel as if somewhere in NKY would ever get a team it would carry the name "The Cincinnati ____". I do know the Cards and Cats get the crowd to fill up, do you think that would carry over to the pros?

I doubt anywhere in the state will get an NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB team. To be honest, there's nowhere that has the population and economic base to definitely support it. Louisville is borderline at best, and Lexington would need to double or triple its metro population. Louisville would basically be one of the smallest markets in any of the leagues, and there are much larger metro areas that do not have a profesisonal team that would be less of a gamble for an investor. I also don't think there's going to be much expansion going on in any of the leagues, so it would have to be a move from another city. That city, in all likliehood would be somewhere between 1.5-5 times larger than metro Louisville. If that team wasn't successful in their original market why would they be successful in a much smaller market?

I agree. NFL and NBA due to proximity to other teams. MLB, NHL, and MLS, b/c lack of interest here for those sports.

I think an NBA team in Louisville would fill up the arena every night BUT the problem is most revenue for sports teams comes from tv markets. A 3rd (probably even 4th) team in Southern California would still be more profitable than 1 team in Kentucky with great fan support.

Louisville, although probably NHL might be the only possibility. MLB, NFL are no-gos. NBA will flourish but potentially be overshadowed by the UK-UofL rivalry and those individual programs that, well, I agree with censusdata's comment above.
