I am employed by the Federal Government and have been for the past 3 1/2 years and decided to leave my position and go back to work for the State. I have 16 1/2 years of service with the State and was wondering if there any way to get credit toward my state retirement for the years I paid into the federal retirement program?

I know that the state of Maryland accepted federal time into their system, at least they did when I considered the move it back in 2000, but they seemed to be the rare exception.

Your state employee personnel office will have the answer.

May you be blessed and find happiness with your decision.

It used to be that you could buy Federal time (not just given credit for it) but I don't know if they still do that.
