Can anyone explain what type of transportation services this company provides? They seem to be in several counties even in Oldham and Nicholas. Are they similar to a taxi service?

They are a private company, non-profit that assists needy people....so, it's kind of like a bus, a really, really small bus...looks sort of like a van as much as a stunted bus/ they are Equipped to help Elderly and disabled people to get around.
They provide transportation to doctors, hospitals, etc for Elderly, poor or disabled people, and Veterans free of charge or for a very small fee....they are like a small bus, but they can accommodate and help disabled people, like people in wheel chairs etc.
I have seen them also drop off people at Groceries and the Mall. Unlike a city bus, the drivers will usually help them with their wheel chairs, etc....at least to some degree that I have noticed.
There is a service like this in several districts ( Jackson Purchase, Pennyrile, Green River, etc.). My dad had to go to a doctor's appointment in Paducah from a nursing home in Mayfield. The busses have the capabilities to lock the wheels in the floor and buckle them in the rear of the bus. On cases like his, Medicaid paid it. But for others there is a small fee. I know several people who wouldn't have a way to go to the store, doctor, or anywhere else without this little bus.
It's good to know services like this exist in KY for people that need them. I was originally trying to find a list of cities/towns with public transportation in KY and that name came up a few times.
Mayfield hit the big time in the last year or so. After no taxi service for over 40 years, we now have TWO taxi services! lol
It's amazing to me that with 10,000 people, someone didn't bring in a taxi service years ago. It sounds like a great business opportunity in a town that size. Surely not everyone drives and people that don't still need to get around without depending on relatives or friends.
We had one for I don't know how long until the one driver retired back in the 70s. The PADD Service (Purchase Area Development District) bus is the bus I mentioned earlier to get people around.
