Wow, my family currently resides in a small WNC town. We are considering relocation to Paducah. Schools are of extreme importance to us. I have just started my search for information regarding Paducah. I grew up just over the river in Southern Illinois and have considered coming back to the midwest. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully, Tony

Unhappy 'Diversity' issues in Paducah?

Coming from 'lily-white' Upper Midwest, we have an option to move into the area for a job. (Not my ministry job, my 'secular' job). Noting the higher numbers of non-Anglos, what is the racial feel in the area? What are the 'darker' areas of town?

Are there also really shacks and double-wides, as some other posts on the location have alluded to (I've seen this sort of time warp in NC and VA, and it's NOT pretty). Also, where are the 'good' (i.e., upscale) areas to live in the vicinity.

Thanks. No need to tell me I am insensitive. I know my facts, and watched the Milwaukee fair episode on tv this summer... I know.

Yeah, Paducah's just filled with shacks and double-wides and "'darker' areas of town", and they ain't "pretty". "Upscale" areas? What's them? "Time-warp", yep, you shore kin see it in Ol' Virginny and Nawth Car'lina, and ol' Kaintuck ain't fur behind.

Actually, I doubt if your "ministry" would be welcome in Paducah. Or in much else of Kentucky, for that matter.

Just sayin'.

John, I don't know where you found all this crap about Kaintucky. What does a Milwaukee fair episode have to do with Kentucky? You went way past insensitive a long long time ago. Want some shocking news? We have bathrooms INSIDE now! WOW!!!!!!

Get a life!
