That's it!!! I need to try one of these Hot Brown's for myself...where can I get a great hot brown in Louisville or Lexington because I will be traveling to both. Oh and I gotta have some fried banana peppers too right? lol..let me know guys!!
LOL - I'm from So. California and go to KY once or twice a year - hands down I like Captain's Quarters right on the river in Harrod's Creek just outside of Louisville...when I was there last week, the menu still offered Hot Browns but I know they don't offer them in the summer. I've tried many Hot Browns but I love theirs the best.
^^^^^^
Agreed. This is one thing that needs to be done in Louisville, where the sandwich was invented, and IMO the Brown Hotel still has the best sandwich:
This hotel also has a AAA four dimaond restuarant, the English Grill. The Seelbach, another historic hotel nearby, has a restaurant called the Oakroom that has gotten the AAA five diamond award, the only place between Chicago and Atlanta to receieve this distinction. Alas, both restauarants are quite pricey, but you can get the Hot Brown sandwich for lunch at a small cafe they have in the Brown Hotel. Just go there and ask the concierge

It has been awhile, but deSha's (corner of Main and Broadway) downtown Lexington used to have an awesome Hot Brown.....
Also for fried Banana peppers we used to go to a place called Rogers, I believe. Not too far from campus.... Nothing fancy by no means, but real good food. Is it still there? They also had killer Butterscotch Pie.......
Yum Yum..I cannot wait to taste this wonderful meal!!! I think the Brown Hotel might be it..thanks STX!!!!!!!
