Hello, I lived in Johnson City for six years (moved Sept 2015) and I loved the cherry blossom trees! I miss seeing them bloom.

Are they still blooming? Could anyone post a few photos, esp from around University Ave?

While in TN, I was often homesick for WI but I enjoyed the people of Johnson City and the city!!

Now I am bit homesick for Johnson City!

I realize no one may be able to post a picture. Can anyone tell me if they are still blooming? Thanks!

Okay, I'm new here from the southwest, so I really don't know many local plants, and I don't drive much around Univ. Ave, but during my normal driving in and around Jonesborough and the Knob Creek/Boones Creek Roads in JC, I'm seeing a lot of white flowering dogwoods as well as purple and pink flowering trees that I thought were also dogwoods, but might be cherry blossoms? The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is April 9th, if that gives you any information.

I wouldn't think dogwoods would be blooming yet. The purples are red buds. The a lot of the whites are probably bradford pears. The whites/pinks may be cherry blossoms, but I'm not that familiar with the tree.

Here's a pic of what I think might be cherry blossoms...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, interesting! Bradford Pears can look a lot like Dogwoods from a distance - to me, anyway. Haven't seen either in over 20 years - I really don't know local trees and flowers, obviously!

There is a weeping cherry in my neighborhood that was in bloom a few days ago when I passed by.

Looking at the dogwoods on our property, I'd say they will flower in about a week or so.
