We made reservations a while back at the Doubletree in downtown JC. It was referred to us by someone who's relative stays there occasionally. However I just read a very mixed bag of reviews and am a little apprehensive We were looking for a hotel with an indoor pool and had only found one other in that area: AmericInn in Jonesborough. They are a little more expensive but include a continental breakfast. Can anyone provide any comments, good or bad, regarding either of these hotels? Thanks in advance!

I don't know about the Double tree except that it looks ok from the out side. I do know the one in Jonesborough is only about a year old and also looks nice from the outside.
Sorry, I know that isn't much help

I've stayed at the Double Tree a few times (and have been to several events in their conference rooms) and have always had a good experience. Nice, comfy beds, big rooms, and a nice pool. There is a sports bar in the hotel that might get a little loud in the lobby on week-ends, but it never bothered us in our rooms. I've never stayed at the AmericInn, but it is a brand new hotel.

I've stayed at the Doubletree, too, and it was a great hotel. The rooms were comfortable, the service was friendly and efficient, and the sports bar has great burgers! I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It's also in a great location, right smack in the middle of The Strip.

Too bad you need an indoor pool! The Carnegie is a bit outside of the main 'downtown' in Johnson City, but boy is it nice. I love staying there.

Hi Cougargm.
I've never stayed at the Doubletree, but have stayed at the AmericInn - nice place, nice service, and a great breakfast. Also, it's convenient to JC and Jonesborough.

Default AmericInn

Just to update and also confirm what Ania said: We stayed at the AmericInn two weeks ago for our first visit to the Tri-cities and we were quite happy with our stay there. The breakfast is fairly good: Belgian waffles (make yourself), bagels, muffins, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, juices and coffee. The hotel was clean, including the indoor pool area. One plus is that the two bedroom units have two queen beds, not doubles like most places. Rates are reasonable and they allow pets as well.

I know this is an older thread but instead of starting a new one, I thought I would just bump and add my question to this one. I may be coming up next weekend to check out Jonesborough and the tri-cities area.

If I look for a hotel on priceline.com, are there any areas of JC that would be less than desirable to stay or is it all pretty much okay? I know that you have to stay with whomever accepts your offer, so I always want to "know" my city before I use Priceline.

The AmericaInn in Jonesborough is a very nice place. There is a Jameson Inn on Boones Creek right next to a Cracker Barrell that is not far from Jonesborough and is also a nice place. The Holiday Inn on Springbrook in Johnson City is very nice, but a bit farther away from Jonesborough, but still only about a 15 mile drive. Be sure to check out Telford. It is only about four miles outside of Jonesborough and has some very nice homes with pretty mountain views.

We've stayed at Jameson Inns before. What town would that one be considered to be in? If I look at the website, I would need to know what to enter.
