Amen.
If it wasn't for all those who served, we wouldn't be able to have the freedom to write on the great forum.
Hats off to all who served.

Amen to that... Maybe a little 'after the fact' but it would be interesting to hear special stories of friends or family who served and gave their all. Where I grew up in Connecticut, the annual Memorial Day parade was a big deal. Seemed like everyone in town came out to line the sidewalks and cheer on the military who marched in the parade. Perhaps the most recent, unpopular wars have eroded our interest in and support for anything militaristic. But we should never forget those who were ordered to go and do their duty for their country.

On Memorial Day I always think of my uncle, a Navy pilot (whom I never met) who was shot down at Pearl Harbor but managed to rescue his wounded co-pilot by swimming to shore with him. He (my uncle) died shortly thereafter in a Hawaii hospital. He had planned to serve as best man for my parents' wedding that December 20th. He has always been remembered as our family hero.
