Do they stop traffic on Sundays for churches? When we lived in GA we had to be careful where we drove on Sunday as traffic was really bad on many streets due to cops stopping traffic so the attendees could get in or out of the church parking lots enmasse. Streets backed up for blocks all over the place, couldn't even get to waffle house

They do at the big Baptist church in Powell. I hear that they do it in other areas that have big churches, too.

Ha! Two that I know of that have traffic control: First Baptist Concord in Farragut (extreme west Knoxville) and Sevier Heights Baptist on Alcoa Hwy (Hwy 129). These are both mega churches.

On a related note...will my wife and I be outcasts in TN since she's Catholic, and thus, we attend Catholic services?

Just wondering.

Well, I've been to Immaculate Conception Church, and no, traffic control wasn't needed, but I think out in west Knoxville the church is heavily attended.

I am Catholic, live in East TN and I am not an outcast. I have many friends of many different denominations. However when we first moved here to a much smaller, very rural area (10 minute drive to closest gas station) when I was invited to local churches by the nice folks, I said, thank you but we have a church. They asked where, I told them (which happened to be a 40 plus mile drive to the closest catholic church) they did look at me sometimes like I had 3 heads, but didn't stop being nice to us. Now that we are in a more populated area, it does not even cause an eye to bat. I think just about every denomination/type of religion has a presence here so it is just a non issue.
