Has anyone eaten at the Asian Cafe on Central Ave Pike across from the Weigels? It's not "brand" new but hasn't been there that long... maybe since summer.. just wondering if it's any good.. looks like it would be....
Thanks!

If you are talking about the one near Callahan, it is fine; probably slightly better than average for this area.

Well, I'm use to the northeastern Chinese restaurants, which certainly aren't authentic; just something I like. But the restaurant looks to be run by a family and they are extremely nice. I've only been once, so I am not an expert, either. What I got was good. Not to die for, but I certainly wouldn't avoid the place, either. It seemed better than most.

My biggest complaints about local Chinese restaurants is they seem to cut corners. The crab rangoon hardly has crab in it, which is probably surimi. In fact, I have yet to find a Chinese seafood dish in the area that says it has crab in it when it is really surimi.

Thanks! We have been wanting to try it out for a while.. kinda looks like one of those "hole in the wall" places... which usually are pretty good!

Everyone I know who has tried it loved it. They offer several categories of Asian food (e.g. Thai, Japanese). It's been voted best in its category; sorry, don't remember which publication, but it was probably the Asian food category. They also have live music and free wi-fi. I wish I could have gone more than I have (a little out of my way, albeit, not much), but they used fresh ingredients. They had decent hours but I think they may have extended the dinner hours to much later.

It sure didn't look like the type of place that has live music. I guess I should have looked around more? Like I said, the owner seemed very nice. I didn't notice anything else. I'll give to give it another try. I'm looking at that menu and it looks nothing like the one I read. Maybe they have recently changed things around. I don't remember when I visited.

There's one over on Western Avenue, just before Schaad, across from the bowling alley, that is suppose to be great for getting large portions for little money. I haven't tried that one, either.

Sure enough. No wonder this place didn't seem anything like what I had visited! They even have karaoke!
