We are relocating from New York State to Tn next year. We're both Medicare eligiable and presently have an insurance policy called HIP. It's not workable in TN so I must change. I can get GHI from my employer free of charge. ( I'm retired) I also can use Blue Shield /Blue Cross plan but I'd have to pay particial costs for a family plan. I'd prefer the free one of course. Does anyone have either of these plans and are they accepted inTN by drs & Hosps?? Thanks for any reply.

I know that Blue Cross/Blue Shield is NOT accepted by Summit Medical group doctors (which is a huge group of doctors in several areas of Knoxville). I don't know how many doctors do take it.

Thanks. I've recently been informed by another forum that GHI would be the way to go. Since I'm on Medicare now, that's the primary insur and GHI would cover the rest if needed.

I KNOW that Summit Medical Group DOES accept BCBS. Maybe it's because I'm federal. Had the wife in there just last week.
