What is the status of the Dumplin Creek Project near I-40 and Exit 407? When will it be completed and what stores will it have?? We own property in the Boyds Creek area and were wondering what effect it will have on traffic that is already congested??

Check this thread for some bits of information.

I live in Holston Hills... not sure where your Boyds area is, but I rarely encounter significant traffic delays.

So in the planned Dumplin Creek area, is there already a traffic issue? Whenever I happen to drive through, it's clear sailing... but I assume that the reason they are building out there is due to reasonably high traffic.

Dumplin Creek is a project by the same people who brought us Turkey Creek, oh happy days

Wal-Mart Supercenter and a Target (probably a Super Target) are among the stores for the new center..

Since it's in Dumplin Valley and near Dumplin Creek and Dumplin Road, it's a pretty good name for it.

Haha yeah it does sound a little cutesy. I thought the same thing, it was like Hee Haw decided to build an exit off I-40. But as knoxgarden pointed out, that area has been called Dumplin Valley for years. Old maps from the 1800s show that it was called Dumplin Valley.

I used to live near a road in rural East Knox County called Huckleberry Springs Road. I hated giving directions to my house because I couldn't stand that name. It just sounded sooooo cutesy. But then I saw a map of Knox County from the 1800s, and son of a gun it was called Huckleberry Springs even back then, before all the dumb, fake, cutesy, folksy mountain names became popular (thanks, Gatlinburg).

Tater Peeler Road? OK that is the best! I think we should start a new thread about funny Tennessee names.

It's not just TN. I live in a rural area in AL close to Lick Skillet, a community located on Butter and Egg Road. It's absolutely true and I can take you there. Ya'll come!
