Daffodils are blooming and red maples are budding So...what are some opinions of new arrivals concerning their first TN winter?

There were some pretty cold mornings, but certainly not even close to nearly enough snow

We would have liked a bit more snow.

However, the one day we had precip, everyone was wrecking. That was a bad morning. The area is better off not having further days like that.

We haven't had anything like a normal winter even here in NJ. It wouldn't surprise me to see the crocuses soon. So far we've had a couple of inches of snow, but no real storms (6" or more) which is unusual--and probably means we're gonna have late season storms, the ones that melt off by afternoon--hopefully.

Tonight we're getting another ice storm. Yay. Those are so much more fun than snow. >

Oh, no! Could it be global warming?!? Yikes!

I spent much more time outdoors this winter than I spent outside last Tennessee summer. I stay outdoors some days this winter for 5 - 8 hours at a clip. I'm fine with it.

Two things about winter:

1. It doesn't feel as cold as it's supposed to be. I have yet to wear my winter coat during the day - just a jacket with layers. Wore gloves only twice. It's February and the high today in my town is going to be 64 degrees. Once, this winter, the temps hit 70. Mostly it's in the 50s (my fave temperature range) during the day. I will fondly remember these temps in June, July, August and September.

2. For people who are used to a lot of sun, there are many many winter days where the weather forecast is partly cloudy, mostly cloudy, just plain old cloudy. For example, for the 10 Day weather forecast including today, in my town, we have zero sunny days in the 10 Day Forecast. One totally sunny day, per 10 days, is typical. I know this because I look for days with little to no sun for taking photos (no shadows). I'm not saying it rains a lot in the winter - it doesn't, but if you are one of those kind of people where your mood is dependent on sunshine, you may want to rethink moving here if you are retired/not at work during the daytime.

The only time it snowed so far, where it actually stuck, you could still see the grass in spots. I've never used my scraper since I'm in Tennessee but I'm retired so I can't speak to people who are outside at 6:00A and 7:00A.

All I know is my wife is usually FREEZING for about 6 months of the year back home, and I have yet to see her wear anything more than a jacket or heavy sweater here. I've been amazed. Even when it's "Cold", it's not cold. I think the lack of wind (for the most part) is what makes it not so miserable when temps are below freezing.

I'm interested to see what this summer brings because even though it was hot last July/August when we got here, it was nothing compared to the KC area during that time in terms of heat + Humidity.

There are a lot of things that I don't like about this area, but the weather ain't one of them.

Coming from the northeast and south Florida, the weather is divine.

Yep, love the weather!

Could do without the Time Zone, and the crappy grocery stores.

Agreed. I wish this was central time zone. Most people around here do ok with the grocery stores that are here; but some of the bigger cities stores are just so wonderful.

We could get a wee more snow than we do; like we did back when I was a kid. I remember actually having white Christmas' as a kid in Kingsport. We haven't had one of those in many, many years.

I've got bulbs coming up. My fear is that like last year, a hard freeze will come (maybe tomorrow night?) and snuff them out.
