Recently, we rented a pod to be delivered for loading. Pod lady stated no combustible items. That would mean you'd have to sell lawn tractor, chain saws, power washer, log splitter, etc. One would think running these items dry and leaving gas caps off for several days would suffice. Any opinions on the matter?

Thanks,

Bud

I would check with the Pod lady. She does have the last word, no matter what anyone on the internet may say.

Draining the gasoline powered equipment and removing the spark plugs is all that should be necessary. They don't watch you pack it, and they have no idea what's inside. They don't open it without you there, so they would never know. On the other hand I would get rid of all spray cans, cans/bottles of yard chemicals, cans of paint, nail polish remover, etc. We just left out any and all liquids to prevent leaks too. Any chemical that is flammable, or container that could explode, like propane canisters, or cans of hairspray, etc, should not go in. I would run the power equipment dry and let it sit with the fill cap removed for several days to let all the fumes evaporate. We did this when we moved our stuff in pods.

If however there should be a fire in your pod, and it's found that you packed this stuff, you could be found liable for damages to your own stuff, and anything else that is damaged.
