Seeing as I'll be a knoxville resident in a couple short months I was wondering if there are any good seafood places with good crabcakes? I'm from MD and well we love our crabcakes!

I'm from the Gulf Coast and we love our Blue Crab crabcakes there as well.

The only place I've tried, and liked, crabcakes here is the Copper Cellar, on Kingston Pike:

Copper Cellar (http://www.coppercellar.com/coppercellar/page.asp?id=2 - broken link)

It's mostly jumbo lump crabmeat, not mostly breading like so many places. We go there for our office Christmas party luncheon, and most of us get the crabcakes.

There is a restaurant in Knoxville named Chesapeakes, Chesapeakes, owned by the same company as Copper Cellar. It's one of my favorites and great seafood!

Both menus describe the crabcakes the same. They probably use the same recipe for both restaurants.

Nice to know about the Copper Celler. Thanks. Thanks too, to the OP for asking.

The Copper Celler appears to be a little pricier than the places I've been to in Maryland, most of which served on a bench with a brown paper "tablecloth."

I know what you mean by that tablecloth. We had while paper runners in MS. Cleaning the table amounted to rolling everything up and throwing it all in the garbage.

Yep, it's a little pricey. Unfortunately, good seafood is hard to find around here. Probably has alot to do with the lack of an ocean coastline. We rectify that with periodic runs to the coastline and a large freezer at the house. The beauty of this area, the wonderful people, etc. all more than compensate for this issue, in our minds.

So, seafood out is a treat for us these days, not a regular occurrence.

Thanks for all your responses, I'm very glad to know there are good places to find them, what a relief. I used to live in ND when my dh was in the Air Force and I would have to buy them frozen at the commissary and boy were they expensive. The price definitely goes up when you're far from the coastline but I'll still have to have them every so often, I can only go so long. LOL
