Is there an "urban market" in Knoxville city?
I mean those little small town grocery/markets that are in a downtown building on street level mixed in next to the banks, lawyers offices and retail stores. Where you can get some grocery items, maybe a deli counter for lunch meat, some specialty gourmet items, teas, coffee, a little bit of fresh produce etc.
More of a little upscale market than a convenience store. Does that make sense? hahahhaha
Is there one of these that anyone knows of?
Thanks

Yes, at the corner of Gay street, and Summitt Hill. Have nice deli, and meats, but not much in groceries. You can get lots at the The Mass General.

There are a couple of small groceries in the Fort. Or at least there used to be. As I recall, one is/was in the east part of the Fort closer to downtown (a couple of blocks from the Candy Factory) and the other one is/was on the west part of the Fort not too far from Fort Sanders Hospital.

If you want a little Latin flavor with your groceries, La Esperanza is a neighborhood grocery store in my neighborhood, it's on the corner of Washington Pike and Whittle Springs.

Default Maryville

I know there is in Maryville, its at Washington and something, its six stores all in one and they have everything, meat, cheese, fruit, etc, maybe Smoky Moutain Gal knows more about it, they did a story on the news the other night and I cant wait to go and see for myself.

Have you been to Fresh Market? I love the one we have in Memphis and I see there is one there too. As a matter of fact when I move to JC I will probably make a monthly run to the Knox Fresh Market to pick up some of my faves.

Yes, I hear Fresh Market is great, we are getting on in JC, can't wait. But it is a big grocery store chain. I am looking for that small corner grocer/market kind of place.

Whoa, whoa, we're getting FRESH MARKET in Johnson City!? MOUSE! Where, when!?!?!

When I lived in Knox (a couple minutes from downtown) I never really did run upon the kind of place you're looking for. I know what you're describing (there's one in Bristol!), but to my knowledge none exist in Knox. It would be GREAT, as people who live in/around downtown wouldn't have to drive to pick up amenities and basic foodstuffs...
