We are looking for a home to rent or rent to own. The only problem is that I have a failed business, so my credit is in the toilet. I'm currently going through a bankruptcy and will be selling my home in a short sale. I can't afford to rent here in California, but I see that the cost of living in Tennessee is very affordable. My job search is going well, but I won't be able to pack up and leave here until I find work in Knoxville or the surrounding areas.

I do have a small child (5 years), so schools will be an issue also. Money will be tight, so the cheaper the rent the better, but also a safe neighborhood.

We are looking to start our lives over in Knoxville around June 2007.

If anyone has any good leads, please reply or email me.

Wish I could help. In my research I've come accross rent to own offers by some knoxville area realtor named Sell it Quick Rick. I'm not sure of his reputation but I've come accross some of his stuff online. I could be wrong but some of his homes may be in the less desirable areas of Knoxville. Good luck to you man and sorry about your business.

Be very careful with the "Rent to own" offers. There are some scammers out and about in these parts. You would be better off looking for a "lease purchase option" on a rental house. What ever you decide GET IT IN WRITING! And those documents you can record in that counties court house to protect your interest. Good luck to you and your family.
