I spent a lot of time in New Mexico when mom was alive. I was in Demming once. I don't know what you are looking for. Here are some random thoughts.

The areas I like in particular are Riodosa, Roswell, Hatch, Elephant Butte, Tucumcari, and Las Cruces. I'm not that crazy about the SE part of the stat because the oil wells stink. Santa Fe is very expensive and Albuequerque sprawls for miles like El Paso. Hatch is an entirely different breed of cat.

Las Cruces is not a bad place to live. You'll find a ton of restaurants and a decent hospital. Shuttle takes you to the airport in El Paso. Mom found a decent little house to rent over on Taylor Road for $500. She lived on Graham St. in town not far from Smitty's. The rent was around $700. Where you live depends upon what day you wash your car and water your plants. If you're lucky you'll have mature fruit bearing trees in the yard.

What I particularly liked is I didn't have drive far to enjoy the country side. Little things like blooming cactus, harvesting cotton, pecan groves. I never wanted to go into El Paso or cross into Mexico there. I did like the Columbus, Mexico which is due south of Demming. Stores are clean, food is good, and the people are friendly. It is a good paved road until you hit the border. I like it much better than I do Arizona. The State Magazine is awesome.

Thank you for the information. I worked in Santa Fee, Esp, Alb, Hobbs, Silver City and Deming. Seen Hatch not much there. However, I don't need much. I check out those other cities. Yea! they can nuk Arizona for all I care.

Deming is a decent town with friendly people. However, many would find it too remote for their tastes.

It has all the amenities of a town its size including at least four supermarkets.
