The city announced that the new aquatic center to be built has broken ground at Solano and Hadley avenues. It will feature a lap pool, theraputic pool, leisure pool with water slide, lazy river etc...

I believe this the 3rd new center to be built reciently as the others are new Laabs aquatic center on West Picacho and the new one on the east mesa.

I am just drooling....too bad I don't live in LC, LOL!!

I am grateful to have the Physical Therapy Center here in Alamo, but I don't really like the Family Rec Center. It's nice to have as a backup, but there is nothing like a really good aquatics center. Midland has a world-class one, and the new one in Farmington is really nice, too.

I e-mailed Alamo Mayor Steve Brockett reciently and asked him about all this stimulus money that Obama says he's going to be giving to cities for infrastructure and he e-mailed me back within 10 minutes to say that he (Brockett) was meeting with Southern NM Congressman Harry Teague and Senators Bingaman and Udall to get monies for large infrastructure projects in Alamo if this happens.

He seems like a really good Mayor for the city.

It will be interesting to see what (if anything) Alamo gets....and what it will be used for.
