I'm curious about the prospects for renovation/development/living in city center Las Cruces. I understand there is a project going on to revitalize the city center area of Las Cruces. Can anyone tell more about this and what are the prospects for a retired couple living in downtown Las Cruces. Safety? Convenience? Costs of housing?

Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

I like the area just to the west of downtown and east of the railroad. Houses in the area typically run around $300k+, less if you want to fix it up yourself.

I'd steer clear of east downtown at this time, though the real estate is typically cheaper.
