The state's unemployment rate is a lie for the most part. There are many many jobs there. The reason for the high unemployment rate there is that many of the people there are lazy and don't want to get a job. They want to lay around on unemployment.

There's nothing wrong with what she said. There are stories of people who have declined low-wage jobs as long as their UE benefits were maintained. Allen Reynolds (Cato) has also argued strongly against perpetual UE benefit extensions. Angle is also right that we have spoiled our citizenry.

What do you suggest? UE benefits in perpetuity?? 99 weeks is too short?

I think Angle has one thing very wrong. I don't believe there are jobs available under any set of circumstances to cover the present unemployed.

So the option is likely unemployment, welfare, soup kitchens or starve them.

I can't get enthusiastic about starving them. I suppose we could go to the soup kitchens and have them pitch tents in the parks.

Start up a CCC? That probably is more expensive than unemployment extension. Maybe though if this is going on for some years yet.

I believe Angle opposes unemployment insurance period. Bad for the moral fibre.

I totally agree.....I bartend and on any typical night there will be 50 people in my bar and 12-15 of them will be on unemployment. I usually ask how the job search is going and the answer I get from 90% of them is "why work when I can just collect?" Most of them collecting for well over a year. God forbid I was to lose my job but if I did there is no doubt in my mind that I would find a half dozen jobs within a week. Las Vegas has some of the laziest people I have ever seen in my life....and I love it. No competition out there!
