This has been quite entertaining. Quick question to clear up what Amy was asking. Even if she pays to have the felony removed, wouldn't it still come up on a background check and doesn't the application require disclosures of criminal history?

By pay to get it removed do you mean expunged?
Okay, SOME felonies fall under various state laws to allow them to be expunged, however, it is a long process. Typically, the criminal court judge includes it during the sentencing process. At that point he will say something like,
Blah blah blah... sentenced to three years, to be served (in prison or on paper-probation) etc... then he will mention that it falls under state statute XYZ and if said felon gets in ZERO trouble while her sentence is in effect, she has the right to come back to criminal court, pay some big bucks and have the conviction expunged.
Once it is expunged it is hidden from view, even from the court clerk's eyes. It is NOT hidden from view with regard to certain law enforcement needs, including the FBI. But employers, apartment complexes etc will never find it again.

My son had it set up like that due to his only being 18 and a couple of months when he caught his felony.. .but he was sentenced to six years (2 incarcerated and 4 on paper) and unfortunately, he failed a drug test for probation three years into his sentence, before he got clean and sober, which means he forever lost the ability to expunge. He is now 25 and completely clean with a permanent DO NOT HIRE (AKA felony conviction) mark in the national crime computer....sigh.
So IF Amy is ultimately convicted, yes, depending on the felony charge, her attorney COULD possibly set her up to have it expunged down the road, but it cannot be done until her sentence is complete, for the reason I mentioned regarding my son. You have to prove you can go the distance without an ounce of trouble before they will do it.
Even if she is not convicted. (She believes it will be dismissed... though MOST felony charges ultimately garner a conviction at LEAST for a misdemeanor reduced charge.... but still convicted).
Anyway, regardless of the outcome (barring expunging), the ARREST for a felony charge will remain public record until the second coming and anyone can find it with a good public record search.
While a conviction is much worse than a charge that gets dropped, there are companies out there that will not hire you if you have ever been CHARGED with a felony.

Hi
From reading the many pages, I'm just confirming that there is no longer a Sheriff's card anymore. Basically I need a to go to get hired and Human resources will give me a number so I can apply for a Nevada Gaming Registration online. Correct? I am interested in working casino security so I will also need to go online and apply for a TAM card for alcohol and a PILB card for security correct? Please if anyone is familiar with security certifications, if there are any other cards that I need.
