I wouldn't pack shorts...

I'd pack jeans, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, a light jacket, a heavy jacket

Don't plan on swimming now =]

But...aren't the pools heated? I'm still wearing shorts! And if he/she is from up North it will feel warmer.

I live in Alaska and I was cold in early Nov lol. Most of the pools are closed starting in Nov.

There are heated pools that are open year round for those who want to venture in the water during the cold weather season. I remember dining at one of the restaurants at Golden Nugget one time this last winter and there were people at the pool.
