Yeah, I know. Like the old alley cat that's been "fixed", I might not be able to do, but I'm still able to teach.

I'd think you could actually get a room at Big Bear for less than a cabin at Mt. Charleston???? Probably at Springdale too. Maybe Davie doesn't know about those places and how nice, and how close they really are.

Yeah...as you get older.."romantic" becomes more and more like a Cialis commercial. So true.

I've never even heard of Springdale. Big Bear yes, Springdale...no.

I chose Mount Charleston simply because its close

About an hour to drive to Mt. Chas. and about 2½ to 3 to Springdale. The drive itself is beautiful, especially through the Virgin River Gorge, and from St. George to Zion Canyon.
Driving Directions from Las Vegas, Nevada to Springdale, Utah

Town of Springdale Website Utah Zion National Park

Or Google it.

Some nice places to stay in or near Springdale and/or Virgin, including womantic B&Bs. One of the best Mexican restaurants around these parts in Springdale, The Bit and Spur. The Bumbleberry is good too, but not the original owners anymore. You can still buy a bumbleberry pie to go though.

We may go there for Turkeyday weekend.

Default Maybe the cabins would be better than the lodge

If you have never been to the Lodge let me save you a let down. The grounds are gorgeous and the restaurant is good, but the rooms are terrible. Instead get a cabin if you can afford it. Or, take an overnight trip to Mesquite they have spa packages that are awesome and if you go during the week instead of on a weekend they are less expensive and less crowded. I hate wearing glitzy jewelry (am 27) and until I got married I never wore any jewelry. Now I have about a million pieces and only wear them occasionally so unless you can find her a nice watch if she doesn't seem big on jewelry I wouldn't go that route... Purses are good though, as are massage gift certificates. There is a place in Centennial called ChiSentials (I am sure I am butchering the spelling) but they have a wonderful masseuse and a lot of times have specials on groupon and livingsocial so you don't have to go broke. You might also want to look at show tickets like to O or La Reve and you can usually get 2 for 1 tickets during November and December and a room on the strip (because if you google local discounts there are a million of them)... Good Luck!

My wife and I spent a few days in Southern Utah last week visiting St. George, Snow Canyon and Zion. Had lunch one day at Blondie's Diner in
Springdale. Nice little town (and nice little diner).

We love Springdale. Not sure I could live in such a small town, but that one would be worth a try. Imagine waking up to that scenery every morning. Mama mia.

Are you talking about the Mt. Chas. Hotel, or Mt. Chas. Lodge? The Lodge has cabins, but no rooms. The hotel down the hill a ways has crappy rooms, but they are two differnt businesses. Both have restaurants.
