For heat: A sturdy sunshade, armorall for the interior & a bottle of 'back to black' for the exterior trimming.

I forgot about Armorall. Use it on the dash and tires but don't do what I did and put it on the mats or floorboards. My feets slipped and slided all over the place. Don't put it on the steering wheel either.

I abstain from using the armorall on my dash, first off most of the later model cars have plastic dashes so your just pissing in the wind with the armorall and if you have a vinyl covered dash you get the worst glare off of your windshelid ever... I don't dig that. I like the matte black finish of my interior, I believe the shinier something is the more heat it absorbs.

One of our cars is a Saturn and doesn't need anything to protect the dash. I don't know what it is about Saturns but there doesn't seem to be any metal in them, and the heat doesn't seem to bother them. I wonder if the engine is plastic? Another nice thing about a Saturn is that you can park it and leave the A/C running without fear of the engine overheating. You can't do that with other cars. My dogs appreciate that one because they can go with me to the store on a mildly hot day. I won't chance it when it is over 90. I put a sign on the side window so nobody smashes it open to "save" them. Newbies should know that if you leave an animal in the car when it is hot that will happen. Somebody will either call the cops or break your window. If you leave a kid in the car, even for a minute, you're going to jail and the kid will be taken away by protective services.

I think Nevada actually has a law that says you can't leave a child 14 or younger in a car even if it is running with the air on. Not sure if I am completely accurate, friends of ours here who don't have kids told us about it.

Tint the windows out and noone will see, im gonna. My Accord for having black leather interior is pretty good in our hottest heat I never burn my ass and the AC fires up almost instantly. The dash is also not affected by the sun. I love it

That is correct. Every year kids are left to die in hot cars in Nevada.

Actually, most people use armorall the wrong way. Typically, a person sprays the stuff on, wipes around while leaving a glossy, oily residue behind. You're supposed to put it on, leave it for a minute or two and then wipe it off. Think of it as a conditioning agent rather than something used to gloss up your interior. That could be the difference between a dry, faded, cracked dashboard or a pliable one. I'm in Florida so I can't be without it.
