Hello. I am moving to Vegas in mid August and have a job in one of the Hotels on the strip. Can anyone suggest a nearby apartment complex that is safe? It would be nice to be able to walk to work.

If nearby is not an option, I am looking for something that would have convient access to a short bus ride to the strip.

Any ideas or input is greatly appreciated.

Anything on Las Vegas Boulevard South of Sunset is safe and a short bus ride to work...

Very true...but only if you work south strip. If you need to get well north you can grow old making the trip. Sometimes it is fifteen minutes to get from Trop to DI.

You can also play the same game on Trop, Spring Mountain Sahara and go west or east...depending on which hotel.

Depends on what casino you work at. The strip is longer than you might think, and living at Trop and Koval and walking to work at the Riviera wouldn't be very fun.

I just don't get why so many newbies want to live close to the strip
Sure, it would be convenient, not sure what 'convient' is. There are some nice crappy little apts near the strip. Check those out. Or do like the rest of the city does: Live far away from the strip and commute the 20-30 mins or whatever it is these days.

I lived in the Desert Club right behind the Venetian on Koval LaneLas Vegas Strip Apartments - Desert Club Apartments. It had big 2bedroom 2 bath apartments with a great pool and spa and a gas fireplace. I had the biggest master bath tub I've ever seen. It was well insulated and I couldn't hear my neighbors. I lived there at the end of my stay in Vegas, had I known about it before I wouldn't have wasted all that time driving from 9100 W. Flamingo Rd (don't live there, you can hear your neighbor pass wind the walls are so thin). I worked at the Venetian and sometimes used my car when the weather was awful (which was most of the time) and walked when it was decent. No need to commute. I never had problems there.
